After some delays, SMS is pleased to announce that the Ka Band services on the BADR-7 satellite are just around the corner. The many powerful beams on the BADR-7 satellite will allow for operation and delivery of sustainable, high throughput services.
Teams are currently working on the OSAT (On Site Acceptance Test) and Satellite Acceptance Tests, to finalise the first BADR-7 Ka Gateway from SMS Teleport in the United Kingdom. SMS will be hosting the training provided by ViaSat for all 4 Gateways, in preparation for services going live.

The annual rankings of companies by revenue and revenue growth are compiled by surveying teleport operators around the world as well as referencing the published results of publicly-held companies.
With a growth rate of 15%, SMS was placed at number 6 in ‘The Fast Twenty’; a ranking of all teleport-operating companies based on year-over-year revenue growth in their most recent fiscal years.

SpaceX have announced plans to resume Falcon 9 launches on January 8th. This news comes following the investigation into the pad explosion four months ago, which destroyed another Falcon 9 rocket, along with the Spacecom Amos-6 satellite. Posting an update on their website on 2nd January, SpaceX has attributed the explosion to a failure of one of the three helium tanks, known as composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs), inside the liquid oxygen tank in the rocket’s second stage. SpaceX has released today a press statement confirming the investigation into the anomaly causing a total loss of the Amos 6 satellite along with the Falcon 9 launch rocket is still underway. The report says the incident is being investigated by the Accident Investigation Team comprised of members of Space X, the FAA, NASA, US Airforce and industry experts.
